Leibow has a new series of work viewed here: FEEL LICKS - Abstracts & Holes.
From the early work done with recording artist Bruce Springsteen for his world tour, curators from both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum have selected his work for publications and catalogued his art film in their database. For the series entitled FeelLicks, there is an essence left over from pop art within a cultural subtext. Objects utilized in the collage are representative of humanity, gender and/or sociological themes. The recognizable, yet altered graphic icons, are reconstructed references. Such figures as Felix the Cat and Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse may come to mind. There is a structure from these characters that emerge into a featured single, up-cycled, iconic image.
